Amanda Manrell, R.N., Labor Doula, Placenta Encapsulation
My journey to becoming a Registered Nurse began 15 years ago. I knew I always wanted to be a Labor and Delivery nurse, and I now have done so for 12 years. I have attended countless numbers of births. Every birth has its own story and I have truly enjoyed being witness to each and every one of them. My own personal birth story began 5 years ago with the birth of my oldest daughter. After her birth, and after the first year of her life and my new role as mom, I changed as a nurse. I had always supported my patients, but the nature of the job did not allow me to give the individual full attention to a mom that she deserves and needs at that vulnerable time. I truly believe that a woman who feels safe, encouraged, and empowered by her birth will come out at the end being the strongest mother that she can be.
When the opportunity to become a doula presented itself, I knew without question that this was something I needed and wanted to do. My 12 years as a labor and delivery/NICU/ postpartum nurse and certified lactation counselor has given me the training and knowledge I need. Now the position of Doula will give me the chance to have the time I need to make a clients birth more intimate and fully supported. Since the birth of my oldest, I have welcomed two more babies into my family. Both were born peacefully and naturally using Hypnobirthing®. My own birth experiences were amazing and I want to help others experience their own amazing birth.
Kyle Klim, DC, Labor Doula and Chiropractor
Dr. Kyle Klim began his journey with wellness and Chiropractic care as a child. While growing up under care, he was a competitive gymnast, and contributes much of his success to this aspect of his life. He noticed early on that he did not get sick often, had better balance and flexibility, and recovered faster from infrequent injuries. He decided in his early teenage years that he would pursue a career in the Chiropractic profession in order to help other gain the level of health he experienced in his life. After beginning practice, he quickly found a passion in helping pregnant mothers have their best birth experience while incorporating Chiropractic care. This passion and journey has evolved to include knowledge and education with food/cooking/nutrition, specific Chiropractic techniques (Webster Technique Certified), seminars conducted by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, soft tissue techniques, Craniosacral Therapy, and Pregnancy/ Labor Doula training to offer a complete care model to help families navigate from preconception through pregnancy, labor, and after having the baby. Dr. Kyle has developed webinars, online programs, recipes, live events, protocols, and more in order to support you in your areas of need. He is a member of International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). He has fostered strong relationships with other passionate wellness practitioners in the field to offer further resources to families who seek to bring happy, healthy babies into the world in the most holistic way possible. If this is the type of birth experience you and your family is seeking, Dr. Kyle is happy to guide you along your way!
Lisa Volek, Labor Doula and Breastfeeding Counselor
Lisa has been a D.O.N.A. certified doula since 2008. She is also a certified W.I.C. breastfeeding peer counselor and is certified in the use of the T.E.N.S. unit. Lisa is the mother of four wonderful children and each of them has a birth story as individual as they are. Through their births, she learned the strength and ability of a woman. Being a doula is not something that she does, it is who she is. Lisa enjoys sharing her love and understanding of birthing a child with every family that she is blessed to work with.
“I believe birth is a process that our bodies are designed for. I believe that a woman’s chance of having her ideal birth increases with her understanding of this process and her having the right frame of mind. We must understand that each birth is as special and unique as the child itself. The birth process becomes not so much what we ourselves can achieve, but bringing our child into this world in an uncomplicated and safe manner. There is no right or wrong way to have a child, It is your birth and every birth will tell its own story.”
Anna Terrasova, Labor Doula, Placenta Encapsulation
I am passionate about pregnancy and birth and want to help women achieve a satisfying and empowering birth experience. I completely believe that doulas should be a part in every birth.
I am married with three kids with very different birth experience for each of them. My son who is now fourteen was my inspiration and guide for this journey.
In 2011, I obtained training and certification (DONA) as a birth doula, but I was helping my friends and family years before. I have a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science; before coming to the doula service, I worked as a Computer Analyst on Wall Street (LEH). Anna speaks Russian.
Jenn Stein, Labor Doula
Jenn is a DONA trained Doula and heading to the Farm to train as a Midwife Assistant with Ina May Gaskin later this year. “I love birth! I believe that the entire process of conception, pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond is truly a miracle. I be
came intrigued with birth during my own journey into motherhood and that interest has evolved even more fully since the birth of my second daughter. Working with women and their partners in birth is truly my calling and something that I am very passionate about. My goal is to empower you to experience the birth you desire by listening deeply, and providing support end education from the beginning of your journey to the end. I am honored to be present during this very special time, as well as bear witness to your strength and watch over as your miracle makes their amazing debut into this world”. Jen lives in Rumson with her husband and 2 daughters (both born lovingly and peacefully, one in a hospital and at one at home).
